The alarming rate at which we have lost precious farmland over the last two decades, particularly those treasured small family farms, has been a catalyst for our plan. Skyrocketing housing and land costs have pushed the practicality of farm ownership out of reach for many.
By establishing a network of small farms supported by shared resources like equipment, a community greenhouse, onsite retail sales for crops (The Barn) and educational facilities, we are crafting model for success and sustainability for a new generation of small farms.
Our vision is to establish a foundation that will develop this pilot program of an affordable farm community, fostering a lifestyle steeped in hands-on learning and grounded in the principles of sustainable land management. We are dedicated to enriching the land and the lives of our resident farmers while weaving these small farms into the fabric of local communities.
The Barn and Greenhouse are more than just facilities; they will be vibrant hubs for learning, commerce, and connection for both our residents and the local community. They symbolize the heart of Project Farmland, where education flourishes, and community bonds are forged.
Our pilot project is designed to become a template for replication throughout the Treasure Valley. We envision a network of such small communities, each an ecosystem of growth, sustainability, and resilience, demonstrating that farming in harmony with 'conventional communities' is not just an ideal, but a practical, scalable reality. This is where tradition meets innovation—where the legacy of the past feeds the vision of the future, creating a continuous cycle of growth and learning.
We're asking for your support to expand the reach of Project Farmland. Let your friends know, spread the word on social media, and be a part of our growth. Together, let's make Project Farmland the model for sustainable living and community-driven agriculture. Your voice can plant the seeds for a greener, more connected future. Share our vision, share our journey—let's cultivate change side by side.
